Job Summary

Bodorlaser, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our technical service team in the United States. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and after-sales service to our customers, ensuring the optimal performance of our fiber laser machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to customers through phone, email, chat, and on-site visits.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and repair of laser machine mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Track technical issues and incoming requests from customers.
  • Manage schedules and follow up with customers to ensure optimal use of laser machines.
  • Perform mechanical repairs at customer locations and determine if special resources or parts are required.
  • Understand layout drawings and blueprints for equipment installation.
  • Develop and maintain parts lists and ensure parts are in stock by communicating with customers, staff, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Identify safety issues on machines and provide customer training.
  • Write and compose service reports and expense reports.
  • Perform failure mode analyses and make upgrade recommendations.
  • Assist with final integration and commissioning of complex automation projects as needed.
  • Assist with heavy mechanical moves, such as loading/unloading equipment onto trucks as needed.
  • Regular travel within assigned territories.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in mechatronic, automation engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years' experience on automated CNC machines.
  • Recent experience installing, repairing, and diagnosing problems with automated CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and remote communications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-driven and responsible.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to travel as required (local and domestic).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechatronic, automation engineering, or electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years' related experience on automated CNC machines or fiber laser machines.
  • Mandarin Chinese reading and speaking ability is a plus.
Location

Bodorlaser, Inc. is headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, and we are hiring for various states/provinces in the US and Canada. Employees can choose a preferred state/province as a base state/province and be responsible for 1-4 states/provinces.
