Job Description

The Zooceanarium Group LLC is seeking a highly skilled Mechanic for Aquatic Life Support Systems to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique and dynamic environment, ensuring the health and well-being of aquatic life.

Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, and maintain all equipment vital to the operation of animal exhibits, quarantine, and holding areas, as well as life support systems and exhibit water features.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and affect necessary repairs on life-support related equipment, including freshwater and seawater pumps, filters, heat exchangers, valves, pressure regulators, and automation equipment.
  • Monitor and interpret water chemistry parameters to ensure water quality and clarity standards are met, utilizing water quality analysis equipment such as ion probes, spectrophotometers, pH meters, conductivity meters, and commercial test kits.
  • Assist in the design and installation of new filtration systems, interpreting blueprints and equipment drawings as needed.
  • Communicate daily with supervisor, plant engineering staff, coworkers, animal staff, and laboratory staff regarding LSS and water quality issues affecting animal health and exhibit function/appearance.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Two years' experience in electrical or plumbing fields, with a minimum of six months experience in aquarium life support, aquaculture, commercial water treatment, or similar industry.
  • AALSO Certification or demonstrated working knowledge of major water process filtration components and their application.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and after normal work shifts as needed.
