Microsoft is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud and Artificial Intelligence Silver Team. This team plays a crucial role in deploying and managing a Secure Work Area, which includes the infrastructure necessary for collaboration within a highly secure environment.

In this position, you will collaborate with engineers who facilitate a wide array of Azure services for internal clients in sectors that demand stringent security and regulatory compliance. The systems and software you develop will adhere to the security policies and assurance requirements set forth by both public and private sector clients.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
    • OR a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 3+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
    • OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

Other Requirements

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • The successful candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Maintaining or obtaining the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements is essential for this role.
  • Clearance Verification: This position necessitates successful verification of the stated security clearance to fulfill federal government customer requirements.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will require passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to legal restrictions. Specifically, this role supports U.S. federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions as required by applicable law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration
    • OR a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 4+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
    • OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 3+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
    • OR a Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, or C++.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed services and on-call responsibilities.
  • Ability to build and influence towards common goals and priorities.
  • Ownership of the end-to-end project lifecycle with strong project management and communication skills.

  • Demonstrates expertise in designing distributed systems, understanding interactions between cloud technology layers and components, and recognizing common dependencies at scale.
