Behavior Technician

Join the Norwalk Community School District team as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and play a vital role in supporting students with challenging behaviors. As an RBT, you will work closely with our experienced Behavior Specialists to implement behavior intervention plans and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to help students build skills and achieve success in the classroom and with their peers.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement and monitor the implementation of behavioral interventions and behavior programming for students with challenging behaviors.
- Assist and train teachers and paraeducators regarding prescribed behavioral interventions and strategies.
- Collect and graph accurate behavioral data to analyze student progress.
- Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace reporting requirements to ensure student safety.
- Model and teach new behavior management skills and strategies for other paras and staff.
- Certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or aspiring to become certified as an RBT.
- Complete the required 40-hour RBT training and pass competency assessment within 1 year of employment.
- Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but requires a minimum of the following physical requirements: walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting minimum of 20 pounds, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and stooping.

Evaluation:Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services, or in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of staff.
