About the Role

The Lead Process Safety Specialist at BlueOval SK presents a unique opportunity to be an integral member of the start-up team, overseeing the launch of our facility from inception.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the execution of the BOSK Process Safety Management program to ensure adherence to the OSHA PSM standard and mitigate risks associated with catastrophic events:

  • Maintain and organize process safety information documentation.
  • Facilitate initial process hazard analyses (PHA) and their periodic revisions.
  • Propose solutions for process safety challenges identified during risk assessments.
  • Create local written procedures to guarantee effective program implementation.
  • Manage the pre-start-up safety review (PSSR) process during the facility launch and ongoing operations.
  • Coordinate inspections to ensure the mechanical integrity of process equipment.
  • Report on process safety performance to BOSK leadership and joint venture stakeholders.
  • Conduct investigations of incidents and near-misses related to process safety.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and utilize data to pinpoint areas for performance enhancement.
  • Ensure an effective Management of Change (MOC) process and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Foster strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with other safety, environmental, and fire protection functions as necessary.
  • Perform routine audits of the PSM processes and ensure corrective actions are implemented at BOSK sites.
  • Coordinate external audits and verify that corrective measures are completed.
  • Educate and mentor employees and the plant leadership team on process safety requirements.
  • Provide process safety expertise to support emergency preparedness initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three years in a process safety role within manufacturing, chemical processing, or refinery operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the OSHA Process Safety Management standard.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or in the process of obtaining certification.
  • Experience in lithium battery manufacturing or similar environments.
  • Background in implementing process safety in a start-up facility.
  • Experience as a PHA facilitator or scribe.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment and maintenance practices.
  • Proficient in drafting proposals and specifications.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities.
