About the Opportunity

BlueOval SK is seeking a highly skilled Emergency Response Technician to join our team. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations within our industrial manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to structural and medical emergencies within the manufacturing facility.
  • Rescue people in affected areas and perform high-angle rescue operations.
  • Identify hazards in confined spaces and issue entry permits as required.
  • Deal with the release of hazardous materials, such as chemicals or gases, and take steps to contain spills.
  • Perform first aid to injured personnel and transport them to medical facilities.
  • Maintain equipment and perform periodic inspections on fire protection and life safety equipment.
  • Perform audits and inventory of life safety equipment and vehicles.
  • Participate in drills and simulations to prepare for challenging industrial fires.
  • Operate firefighting apparatus to conduct fireground operations and response.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with fellow employees, hospital staff, fire departments, rescue squads, police departments, communications centers, management, and the general public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict situations with good judgment, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Successfully complete the ERT physical agility requirements.
  • Apparatus Operator (Pumper/Aerial) certification within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as Firefighter I/II.
  • EMT Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic certification.
  • NFPA 1670 disciplines.
  • OSHA 10 Certification within 12 months of hire.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the physical agility to walk, climb, crawl, bend, push, pull, lift, and balance over less than ideal terrain.
  • Must have good physical stamina and endurance, measured by the ability to undertake, without adverse effects, lifting, carrying, and balancing loads in excess of 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
  • Must have the ability to see different color spectrums.
  • Must have good eye-hand coordination and sufficient manual dexterity to manipulate equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
