Job Title: Biomedical Equipment Specialist

Location: Bangor, ME

Description:

The Biomedical Equipment Specialist is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, calibration, and repair on a wide array of biomedical equipment. This position requires extensive technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and train junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced maintenance, calibration, and repairs on complex biomedical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions using advanced technical knowledge.
  • Ensure all biomedical equipment meets industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance, calibration, and repair actions.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to junior technicians and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors for technical support, equipment updates, and recalls.
  • Participate in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of new biomedical equipment.
  • Manage projects related to biomedical equipment installation and upgrades.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or DoD BMET School Graduate, or Active AAMI ACI credentials.
  • 2-8 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Expert knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and computer systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and equipment management systems.
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

The work environment may involve exposure to hazardous materials and situations that require following safety protocols and wearing protective equipment.

The role also includes on-call duties.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
