We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer or Teaching Specialist to join our team at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in creative writing, including introductory undergraduate courses. The position is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
Responsibilities- Prepare and teach classes in a way that best helps students learn
- Create Canvas course sites and syllabi that conform to department and University policies
- Stay current with the professional body of knowledge in the field of creative writing
- Hold regular office hours and respond to student needs and questions professionally and in a timely manner
- Evaluate student learning and assign grades
- Communicate the instructor evaluation process to students
- Understand and follow all relevant University policies and procedures
The ideal candidate will have a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or PhD in Creative Writing or a related field, as well as a minimum of one year of college teaching experience in the designated field. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of college teaching experience, broad familiarity with creative writing and literature, and one published book or book in press.
