Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Phlebotomist to join our team at Ascension St. Vincent in Indiana. As a Medical Laboratory Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens for testing, performing clerical and processing functions, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Responsibilities- Collect and process blood specimens for testing and perform multiple clerical and processing functions.
- Set up instruments, maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
- Receive, centrifuge, accession, process, and transport specimens, verifying all related records.
- Order add-on tests, work pending lists, and resolve duplicate orders.
- Perform clerical duties, including answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, reviewing Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN), data entry, and filing.
- BLS Provider certification preferred from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
- Phlebotomy Tech preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred.
- Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians preferred.
- High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
