Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of procedures involving the use of high frequency sound waves to investigate the internal aspects of the abdomen, pelvis, neck, upper and lower extremities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate equipment, manipulating transducers and adjusting console dials to obtain a clear recording of specified sections of the body.
  • Record each examination on film or computer.
  • Assist radiologists and/or vascular surgeons in interpretation by describing anatomy, anatomical location and acoustic characteristics of each film or computer report.
  • Generate computer reports on all arterial studies, containing previous studies and pertinent history or surgical reports.
  • Maintain and test equipment to ensure its reliability and obtain timely repair service, if required.
  • Develop and present instructional programs of technical vascular procedures for ultrasound, medical and nursing staff, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate quarterly vascular quality assurance meetings.
  • Participate in evaluation and selection of new ultrasound and vascular equipment.
Requirements
  • Associates degree or two year certificate program in Ultrasound.
  • Two (2) years as an ultrasound technologist with one (1) additional year of experience performing vascular examinations.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) within one year of date of hire.
