  • Provide technical assistance to ensure the efficient operation of the Ultrasound Department.

    • 3) Collaborate closely with the department manager to facilitate smooth daily operations.
    • 4) Participate in regular departmental meetings and training sessions.
    • 5) Assist with answering calls and scheduling patient appointments as necessary.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in ultrasound technology.
    • 1) Join local, state, or national professional organizations.
    • 2) Attend continuing education workshops.
    • 3) Maintain professional certifications.
    • 4) Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:

  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in Abdomen from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in OB/GYN from the ARDMS is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification from the ARDMS is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) certification in Adult Echo from the ARDMS is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification from CCI is required within a specified timeframe unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within a specified timeframe.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program. Must demonstrate the ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of patients across various age groups. Registered or Registry Eligible.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional skills in performing abdominal, some OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts ultrasound examinations. Strong understanding of relevant pathologies.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Requires sound judgment, reliability, and the ability to work independently. Flexibility in work hours and on-call duties is essential. Strong interpersonal and patient care skills are necessary.
  • For positions involving direct patient care, the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted is required. For heavier lifts, appropriate patient handling equipment should be utilized, ideally with assistance from another staff member.
