Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Finance Clerk functions and all associated programs. This includes ensuring compliance with contracts, supervising staff, providing training, and managing fiscal tracking, reporting, and allocations.

Work Schedule:

35 hours per week: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Salary: $33.11/hourly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Accounting Manager and CEO in directing the organization’s accounting functions to maintain fiscal accountability.
  • Assist in ensuring effective cash management.
  • Manage financial reporting, recordkeeping, and budget preparation.
  • Gather necessary documentation and track outcomes.
  • Supervise the posting of the general ledger and reconcile monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare for annual audits and program audits.
  • Oversee expense allocations across various grants.
  • Prepare monthly administrative charges and internal billing.
  • Assist in the administration of finance policies and procedures.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory accounts.
  • Review accounts payable postings and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Prepare journal entries as required.
  • Close out programs at the end of contracts and fiscal year.
  • Monitor unrestricted accounts and assist in budget preparation.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for federal contracts.
  • Provide training and troubleshooting for electronic purchase order modules.
  • Review open purchase orders and manage contract closeouts.
  • Foster positive relationships with peers, funders, and community partners.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and procedural standards.
  • Develop and maintain current procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in coalitions and community relations initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings and promote integrated service delivery strategies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural differences and contribute to team spirit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Key Working Relationships:

Internal: CEO, Fiscal Staff, Human Resources/Payroll Staff, Management Team, Division Directors.
External: Auditors, Funding Source staff, Vendors, Various Funding sources.

Supervisory Scope:

Number of staff supervised: 3
Titles supervised: Finance Specialists.

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in required training and meetings.
  • Engage in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Implement internal financial controls.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 10-25 pounds.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business, or Fiscal Management; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 5 years of accounting experience required; 7 years preferred.
  • 3 years of management experience required.
  • Knowledge of Not-for-Profit Accounting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs/Drive.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Excellent time management and recordkeeping skills.
