Job Title: Web Developer, Journeyman

Akima is seeking a skilled Web Developer, Journeyman to join our team in Orlando, Florida.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Web Developer, Journeyman to develop, implement, and maintain websites, web applications, and application databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of web development principles, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement web applications and websites using various programming languages and frameworks.
  • Ensure all code is properly structured, adheres to industry standards, and is compatible with various browsers and devices.
  • Optimize website performance, scalability, and server-side code and processes.
  • Integrate websites with other computer applications and develop website infrastructure.
  • Design user-friendly interfaces, navigation menus, and digital layouts that ensure compatibility and usability across different browsers and devices.
  • Utilize web frameworks and client-side coding to enhance user experience.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen with a Secret clearance (or ability to obtain one prior to start).
  • A.S. or B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, specializing in Web Design and Development or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in web development, with programming languages such as React, JavaScript, Typescript, SQL, and CSS.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, with a deep understanding of HTTP protocols, request/response cycles, and best practices for secure and efficient API development.
  • Experience in managing web servers, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting in environments like Nginx, Apache, or cloud-based services.
  • Solid understanding of database management systems (SQL), including schema design, query optimization, and data migration strategies as well as knowledge of Object Relational Mappers (ORM).
  • Proven experience in writing, updating, and maintaining efficient, testable, and well-documented code.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a penchant for teamwork.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated project-based experience in Python, with a focus on developing backend services, automating tasks, or building data-driven applications, including hands-on work with popular frameworks like Django or Flask.
