About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Engineer to join our team at Esri. As a key member of our product development team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and delivering a comprehensive Pythonic API for ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product engineers, software developers, and product managers to design and deliver capabilities in ArcGIS API for Python
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and incorporate them into the software
  • Develop and implement test plans and test cases, write test code, verify code changes, and bug fixes
  • Review and analyze automated test results, report status on software quality and stability, certify software quality
  • Troubleshoot and triage issues reported by customers
  • Author API documentation in the form of guides for Python developers
  • Share workflows in help topics, blog articles, presentations, tutorials, and samples
Requirements
  • 5+ years of industry experience working in a software development environment
  • 3+ years experience in applying Python towards GIS analysis, data science or GIS administration workflows
  • 2+ years experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro or other geospatial technology
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for software product quality and documentation
  • Bachelor's in computer science, GIS or related disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in computer science, GIS or related disciplines
  • Experience with ArcGIS API for Python and/or ArcPy
  • Experience with architecting test frameworks, testing patterns, unit test libraries and writing automated tests
  • Effective project management, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to build and deliver quality software in a team environment
