Job Description:

A career opportunity has arisen for an Accounting Associate at Roessel Joy, a healthcare/nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will report directly to the Accounting Manager and be responsible for managing heavy AP and Payroll tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Management: Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using payroll software.
  • Employee Record Maintenance: Maintain employee records related to payroll, including deductions, benefits, and hours worked.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Perform journal entries and reconcile accounts payable related to payroll transactions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of reports related to payroll metrics and trends.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with human resources to manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes as they relate to payroll.
  • Financial Accuracy: Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Record Keeping: Utilize QuickBooks or Workday for efficient payroll processing and record keeping.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Handle inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies or issues from employees.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in payroll management or a similar role is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks or Workday is highly desirable.
  • Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of debits and credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
  • Data Entry: Excellent 10-key typing skills for accurate data entry.
  • Accounts Payable: Familiarity with accounts payable processes is a plus.
  • Human Resources: Knowledge of human resources practices as they pertain to payroll functions.
