Position Overview:

This role is crucial for providing engineering support and overseeing process operations at our facility, which includes various water sources, reservoirs, and dam systems. Experience in the design and management of water treatment systems is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer technical guidance to the Operations & Maintenance Division on matters related to drinking water, including treatment processes, source water management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of water treatment operations.
  • Utilize data analysis tools such as PowerBI and SCADA to monitor and improve operational trends, dashboards, and control algorithms.
  • Leverage WIMS software for comprehensive data management and assist in its further development.
  • Assess regulatory challenges impacting facility operations.
  • Conduct desktop analyses, design testing plans, and manage project documentation.
  • Provide expert design support and regulatory insights while collaborating with Engineering and Construction teams during facility startups.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing process control systems, including instrumentation and control programming.

Qualifications:

Senior Plant Engineer:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in the operations and evaluation of drinking water treatment facilities. An advanced degree may substitute for some experience. Professional Engineer licensure in Virginia is preferred.

Plant Engineer:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field is essential. An advanced degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related engineering discipline is advantageous. Eligibility for or licensure as a Professional Engineer in Virginia is preferred.
