Job Overview:


The Clinical Nurse Specialist at e CancerCare is responsible for delivering patient-centered care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This role emphasizes comprehensive assessment, patient education, preventive measures, health maintenance, and, when necessary, end-of-life comfort care, all provided in a supportive and culturally aware environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient care needs by building rapport with patients and their families, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Create a nurturing atmosphere by offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones.
  • Encourage patient autonomy by setting care objectives; educating patients and families about their conditions, medications, and self-care techniques; and addressing any inquiries.
  • Ensure high-quality care by adhering to established therapeutic standards; evaluating health outcomes against care objectives; making necessary adjustments; and following the nursing division's guidelines and state regulations.
  • Address patient concerns and requirements through collaborative strategies with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment by following established policies and procedures; seeking assistance from healthcare support staff when needed.
  • Safeguard patients and staff by complying with infection control protocols, safe medication practices, and regulations concerning controlled substances.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in medical records.
  • Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating actions, discrepancies, and ongoing needs among nursing teams.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and uphold operational integrity by maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Oversee the functionality of medical equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs.
  • Manage nursing supplies by monitoring inventory levels, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing relevant literature, and engaging with professional organizations.
  • Foster a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by sharing information, responding to inquiries, and participating in collaborative problem-solving.
Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as required.
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program with a diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Successfully completed the NCLEX-RN examination.
  • Possess a valid nursing license issued by the state.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a related field.
Required Skills:

Demonstrated sound judgment, reliability, and conscientious work ethic. Detail-oriented with exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities. Compassionate and empathetic with high ethical standards. Proficient mechanical skills and manual dexterity for operating complex equipment.
