Job Overview

Mission-critical software development for spacecraft requires exceptional expertise. As a senior spacecraft software engineer at Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company, you will design and lead the development of software for our satellites, ensuring seamless integration with custom avionics and payloads. Your code will run in orbit, commanding actuators and processing signals from sensors. Collaborate with hardware and control engineers to define software requirements, architectures, and designs for fault-tolerant spacecraft. Rapidly prototype novel solutions to prove out concepts, quantify technical risk, and create new capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of software engineers to develop software for a new spacecraft
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs
  • Rapidly prototype novel software solutions to prove out concepts and create new capabilities
  • Implement designs in C/C++, integrate software components, and create unit tests
  • Assist with system verification and qualification, assessing outputs and documenting results
  • Be responsible for all phases of software development and problem resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar with focus on software development
  • 7+ years of experience in C and C++ programming
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading a small team of software engineers
  • Experience with Linux in an embedded environment
  • Experience with concurrent HW/SW development
  • Experience with board support packages and device drivers
  • Experience with iterative and/or agile development processes
