Job Overview

Omitron, Inc. is seeking a skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of satellite spaceflight safety systems.

This is a mid-level position that requires a strong understanding of Java and object-oriented programming principles. You will work closely with senior-level programmers to design and code software that protects satellites from various hazards in space.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Java-based software applications for satellite spaceflight safety systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software solutions.
  • Work with senior scientists and engineers to develop and implement software that supports satellite constellations and operations.
  • Interface with multiple teammates to develop applications to provide data to a scalable cloud service platform.
  • Participate in Agile development methodologies and contribute to the development of software packages supporting satellite safety tasks.

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Security Clearance: Top Secret / SCI security clearance with a willingness to take a CI Polygraph required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in software engineering or software development with Java

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle Java Certification (or equivalent)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (or equivalent)
  • Red Hat Linux experience
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
