Graduate Nurse Residency Program - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
This program is designed to provide new nurses with essential hands-on training to boost their confidence in clinical settings. Initial training focuses on developing clinical skills, while subsequent sessions cover vital topics such as fostering a positive work environment, building resilience, managing ethical dilemmas, educating patients and families, and advancing your career within Cayuga Health.
The nurse residency program commences following the hiring process for specific nursing units. Candidates interested in multiple departments can indicate their preferences during the application process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients and families, identifying needs that range from straightforward to complex, while recognizing normal parameters and deviations in physical and emotional health.
- Develops care plans that prioritize patient and family involvement in establishing health goals.
- Exhibits proficiency in executing necessary technical skills for patient care and stays updated on policies and standards.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members to facilitate patient access to various services and disciplines.
- Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of care provided, ensuring that care goals are met and documented accurately.
Qualifications:
- License: Must possess an active New York Nursing license; out-of-state applicants are welcome.
- Education: Minimum requirement of an Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (new hires may obtain these certifications during their introductory period).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements (e.g., typing); may involve lifting light loads (up to 40 lbs) and performing tasks that require bending and kneeling.
- Must be capable of sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods and operating necessary equipment.
Work Environment:
- This position requires onsite presence.
Compensation:
- Hourly rate of $38.63.
