Position Overview:
The Assistant Construction Superintendent plays a vital role in advancing our home-building objectives. This position is responsible for guiding future homeowners and volunteers in various construction tasks, including site preparation, foundation work, framing, installation of windows and doors, weatherproofing, siding, painting, flooring, millwork, interior painting, and landscaping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Leadership: Supervise and mentor Habitat Crew Leads and volunteers in home construction.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols at all times.
- Skill Development: Teach essential skills to new volunteers and conduct quality control inspections.
- Communication: Maintain respectful and timely communication with volunteers and partner homeowners.
- Construction Tasks: Execute hands-on construction duties as assigned and oversee site preparation and layout.
- Training: Instruct volunteers and homeowners on construction techniques and safety measures.
- Warranty Response: Address homeowner warranty complaints and perform necessary repairs.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven ability to lead and manage volunteers effectively.
- Strong multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with diverse audiences.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction or contracting field, particularly in carpentry or framing.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with digital tools that enhance operational efficiency.
- Fluency in Spanish.
Work Environment:
This position is physically demanding and involves working at various construction sites. Employees must be able to climb ladders, stand, bend, kneel, and reach in challenging positions under varying weather conditions. Frequent lifting and moving of items over 50 pounds is required.
