Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Utilize professional judgment to independently execute assigned engineering designs.
- Support the Project Manager or take on the Project Manager role, assigning tasks and schedules to Project Engineers and team members while monitoring progress.
- Ensure the accuracy of tasks completed by engineering and technical staff through formal and informal QA/QC processes.
- Make significant design decisions that align with external customer needs while considering the implications on related project efforts.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical, schedule, or financial issues in collaboration with the Project Manager and/or client.
- Assist clients in the bidding or contractor selection process when authorized.
- Oversee construction activities and supervise field personnel assigned to specific tasks or projects.
- Address contractor inquiries and issues, preparing and issuing project addenda as necessary.
- Recommend and prepare change orders as required.
- Contribute to the development of engineering service proposals, including time schedules and cost estimations.
- Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the firm.
- Communicate independently on technical matters with clients.
- Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and manage smaller scope or specialty projects as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent work experience.
- Professional registration (P.E., L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of design/engineering experience with the ability to act as an authorized agent to sign engineering documents.
- Proficiency in operating technical analysis and computer equipment.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical literature and engineering plans.
- Effective two-way communication skills for collaboration with internal staff and external clients.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities, applying professional knowledge to both routine and complex engineering tasks.
- A commitment to participate in external activities representing the firm, including involvement in professional associations and community outreach.
- A professional demeanor, maturity, and a proactive approach to solving client challenges.
- Development of financial project management skills through assigned project work.
