Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the upkeep and operation of our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, pumps, electrical systems, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Housing Manager.
  • Repair minor building/unit problems, including unclogging drains and sewers, replacing lighting fixtures and burned-out bulbs, and repairing/ replacing fences and concrete or asphalt surfaces.
  • Perform exterior/grounds work, including mowing, edging, and trimming grass, trimming or removing trees, watering, fertilizing, and applying pesticides/insecticides to trees, grass, and shrubs.
  • Secure unoccupied units, clean, paint, and repair (make-ready) unoccupied units, including painting, cleaning, drywall repairs/installation, floor care, and ceramic/vinyl tile repairs.
  • Assist with basic training and instruction of Maintenance Technician I and II.
  • Complete work order written documentation and inventory control.
  • Be available for emergency, after-hours, weekend, and holiday work.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with vocational school training, three years of maintenance experience, or a combination thereof.
  • Ability to use initiative, work independently, and take appropriate action on unassigned tasks.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, deal tactfully with the public, and retain proprietary information as confidential.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions, demonstrate sound judgment, and comply with Authority attendance policies.
  • A valid Oklahoma Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions

The Maintenance Technician II will work in an office environment as well as a field environment, with possible exposure to inclement weather, dusty, dirty, noisy, mechanical hazards, noxious fumes, paints, and solvents, and unsanitary conditions. Stress due to volume, emergencies, and time schedules may also be present.
