Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Associate to join our team at the Audie Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six months of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a healthcare setting, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $18.53 per hour, plus benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient care and support services, including transportation, navigation, and information assistance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure seamless transitions and timely delivery of services.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, utilizing VISTA for appointment verification.
  • Participate in emergency situations, such as CPR, Heimlich maneuver, and seizure precautions.
  • Safeguard patients' rights and dignity, adhering to facility fall prevention guidelines.
  • Transport patients, family members, and visitors throughout the campus, utilizing wheelchairs and ambulating devices as needed.
  • Assist with discharge procedures, escorting patients to pharmacies and ensuring safe transfer to family members.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform push/pull functions.
  • Special Agreement Check (SAC) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge required.
