Estimated Salary

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $120,000 per year, plus benefits and performance-based bonuses.

Job Description

The Cybersecurity Strategist and Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting a dynamic and exciting cybersecurity program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role will involve conducting offensive security assessments, penetration testing, and red teaming assessments using hacking tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, experience with penetration testing and red teaming, and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct offensive security assessments, including adversarial emulation, research, and development of real-world threat actors' tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  2. Perform penetration testing and red teaming assessments using hacking tools, including social engineering, physical intrusions, and network-based attacks.
  3. Develop and execute test plans and rules of engagement for Red Team operations.
  4. Analyze security systems and recommend improvements to enhance security posture.
  5. Prepare and deliver detailed technical reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.
  6. Collaborate with other Red Team members and provide mentorship to junior analysts.
  7. Perform technical reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  8. Support risk management activities by identifying potential technical risks and developing mitigation strategies.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  2. 7+ years of experience in offensive security, including penetration testing and red teaming.
  3. Certifications in offensive security, such as OSCP, OSCE, OSEE, OSWE, GPEN, GWAPT, or similar.
  4. In-depth knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity principles, and industry best practices.
  5. Working knowledge of program/project management software (Microsoft Project, Jira, Microsoft 365/Teams applications, etc.).
  6. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
  7. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
