Job Summary

Austin Retina Associates is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing for our physicians, including OCTs, fundus photos, fluorescein angiography, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing for physicians, including OCTs, fundus photos, fluorescein angiography, and other imaging modalities.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical staff to reduce physician and patient wait times.
  • Record images and notes in our electronic medical record system.
  • Perform venipunctures as needed for angiograms and Photodynamic Therapy.
  • Respond to physician and peer questions about images, offering technical insight.
  • Assist with in-office procedures, including obtaining consent, setting up equipment, and numbing patients.
  • Obtain and maintain certification for institute-wide and international clinical trials.
  • Perform clinical-clerical office duties, including checking diagnostic schedules, data entry, and printing results.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening, clear communication, and customer problem resolution.
  • Ability to master multiple computer systems for data entry and data retrieval.
  • Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology.
  • Ability to travel to locations throughout Central Texas by car.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and applied knowledge of medical terminology, with an emphasis on ophthalmic anatomy and physiology.
Preferred Attributes
  • 4-year college education, including related optometry, ophthalmology, and/or technical training, with certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body.
  • Retina or ophthalmology experience, with special consideration for individuals with experience performing OCTs, fundus photography, A/B scans, and/or phlebotomy.
Work Environment

Austin Retina Associates is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. The successful candidate will be able to work extended and irregular hours, including occasional overtime, and will be required to travel within 120 miles in company-provided transportation.

Physical Demands

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will be required to stand and walk for prolonged periods, use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 40 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
