Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dedicated team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of critical technologies, including CO2 removal, capture, and utilization, carbon-free hydrogen production, and the transformation of waste into energy and valuable products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Development: Support the development of novel processes with a specific focus on CO2 capture and conversion into chemicals.
  • Design and Prototyping: Oversee the mechanical design deliverables required for the development of prototype fixed bed reactor systems for CO2 capture and conversion.
  • Prototype Development: Design and release mechanical prototypes, supporting the fabrication of those prototypes, and leading the improvement process following prototype fabrication.
  • Structural Evaluation: Complete structural evaluation (stress analysis) of prototype components according to design pressure and temperature.
  • Process Design: Model heat transfer and fluid flow dynamics through structured heating elements.
  • Research Support: Support the development of process designs for new technologies, preparation of research proposals, and preparation of invention disclosures and patent applications.
Requirements
  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering with 2-3 years of industrial experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with lab, and bench equipment design and construction.
  • Technical background in CO2 capture from direct air capture, flue gas, and industrial streams.
  • Strong experience and proficiency in dynamic simulation software, such as COMSOL or FLUENT, for heat transfer, flow dynamics, and stress analysis.
  • Proficiency and CAD for prototype system design, such as SolidWorks.
  • Good understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • Basic understanding of cost estimation for chemical plants and processes and techno-economic analysis.
  • Experience with design and constructing high temperature oC) and high pressure (30 bar) system is highly desired.
