Position Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing the mechanical discipline at the project level, overseeing the project discipline budget across a spectrum of projects ranging from simple to complex.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of document development and field implementation throughout all project phases.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, manage multiple intricate tasks, prioritize effectively, and guide the work of others.

In this capacity, the Senior Mechanical Engineer may operate independently or under the guidance of the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and external partners to ensure project alignment.
  • Plan and oversee work while managing project budgets from a mechanical design perspective on large, complex initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on proposal development, man-hour planning, and project scheduling for the mechanical scope of work.
  • Conduct and lead field surveys of existing conditions, providing support for field reporting.
  • Identify and address intermediate non-compliant conditions during site assessments and construction surveys.
  • Develop internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations.
  • Create construction drawing packages and write specifications for advanced and complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Lead and support construction activities, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and progress reporting.
  • Conduct quality checks on documents for intermediate complex projects, ensuring technical verification of design calculations and documentation.
  • Provide mentorship to junior Mechanical Engineers and Designers.
  • Lead advanced project system design programming and master planning with assistance from senior engineers.
  • Guide a team of mechanical staff in executing advanced project discipline design and engineering.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within a design firm environment.
  • Professional Registration (Licensure) is required.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and discipline-specific software.
  • Preferred accreditation in LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design certifications.
  • Advanced experience in engineering calculations and the design of HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry standards and building codes.
  • Experience in conducting field surveys and reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with project teams and construction partners.
