Job Title: Assistant Professor of Theatre

The Department of Theatre in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position that will start in September 2025. This position is part of the University's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate theatre courses, including acting, directing, and playwriting, as well as mentoring students in their senior capstone productions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theatre education, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and a demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate theatre courses, including acting, directing, and playwriting
  • Mentor students in their senior capstone productions
  • Direct one departmental production per year
  • Engage in ongoing professional creative work at the regional and national level
  • Participate in departmental, College, and University committees
Requirements
  • MFA in Acting or Directing or related field
  • Professional experience in acting or directing
  • Three years teaching experience in a collegiate/university environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional union membership
  • Creative/scholarly/professional expertise in another specialty discipline beyond Acting/Directing
