POSITION SUMMARY:

The Instructor of Educational Studies is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position within the Teacher Education program at Penn State Harrisburg. We are looking for a passionate and committed individual who aligns with our dedication to teaching, research, and community service. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students, promoting collaborative research, and participating in service activities that support institutional objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties of the Instructor of Educational Studies include:

Teaching: Candidates will be responsible for teaching four courses each semester, which will encompass both undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary and secondary education. Additionally, involvement in academic advising, recruitment, accreditation efforts, and supervision of candidates during field and student teaching experiences is expected.

Research and Scholarship: The candidate is anticipated to engage in scholarly activities pertinent to their area of expertise.

Service: The candidate is expected to contribute service across the College and University, promoting a commitment to the professional and regional community, including DEIB initiatives through committee work, community engagement, mentorship, and other contributions to the academic community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered for the Instructor of Educational Studies position, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

Education: A master's or doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction, educational psychology, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a master's degree will be considered for the instructor rank, while those with a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DEd) will be considered for the assistant teaching professor rank.

Expertise: Preference will be given to candidates with K-12 teaching experience and demonstrated expertise in educational psychology, curriculum development, and classroom assessment.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of teaching experience and hold a current Pennsylvania Level II instructional certificate.

DEIB Commitment: Candidates should exhibit a commitment to transforming teaching methods, communication strategies, course materials, learning objectives, and environments to genuinely support and respect the diverse needs of the student population at Penn State Harrisburg.
