Geoscience Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Geoscience Trainee in the Geologic Mapping Division. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career in geology and contribute to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' mission.

The Geoscience Trainee will assist Senior Geoscientists with research, planning, and coordination activities in the areas of detailed geologic mapping and stratigraphic framework studies. This position will involve immersing oneself in the stratigraphic aspects of Pennsylvania's geology and supporting Senior Geoscientists in various tasks.

• Assist Senior Geoscientists with research, planning, and coordination activities
• Engage in detailed geological mapping and stratigraphic framework studies
• Conduct field mapping tasks and prepare geological maps and reports
• Acquire knowledge on addressing inquiries related to the PNDI/Geoheritage program
• Facilitate geoheritage meetings and ensure that all documents pertaining to geoheritage are kept up to date

• Possession of an active Geologist-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists
• A bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or a closely related field including or supplemented by 30 college credits in geologic coursework
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 30 college credits in geologic coursework

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
