Company Overview

About Statkraft:

Statkraft has been a pioneer in the clean energy sector for over a century, offering 125 years of unparalleled expertise in providing essential renewable energy solutions. In the battle against climate change, we view renewable energy not merely as a component of the solution but as the cornerstone of a sustainable future. With us, you will embark on a career that is forward-thinking, filled with numerous opportunities and offerings tailored to your growth.

However, there is still much to accomplish – that’s where you come in.

Role Overview

As the largest producer of renewable energy in Europe and a key player in various US environmental commodities markets, Statkraft's Origination department is crucial. The Origination team is tasked with sourcing and managing a long-term portfolio of third-party renewable energy agreements and environmental commodities. This portfolio typically includes Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and long-term sales contracts with diverse large clients and trading partners.

In your role as a Portfolio Manager within the Origination team, you will leverage your unique strengths to support the existing team. Depending on your expertise, you will oversee specific business areas (such as market execution, risk assessment, or innovative commercial strategies) while collaborating closely with originators on other aspects of Portfolio Management. Your leadership will be driven by your expertise and a commitment to teamwork.

As a generalist Portfolio Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with various departments to provide daily pricing guidance, forecasting, and support regarding standard pricing and special conditions.
  • Building and maintaining Statkraft's power market portfolio, initially focusing on PJM.
  • Partnering with originators for new deal creation, structuring, and pricing.
  • Developing both quantitative and fundamental insights into relevant environmental markets, including risks associated with managing an intermittent renewable portfolio, while sharing knowledge and market perspectives with team members.
  • Maximizing the value of the US portfolio in long-, mid-, and short-term markets through OTC and screen trading, and developing trade recommendations to enhance portfolio returns within established limits.
  • Working alongside existing portfolio managers to identify cross-commodity opportunities and risks, providing a comprehensive overview of the US portfolio.
  • Continuously improving modeling tools and optimization strategies, actively contributing to the development of advanced portfolio management infrastructure and procedures.
  • Engaging with credit, operations, and trading teams as needed to facilitate transactions.
  • Fostering strong relationships with the proprietary trading team to create a collaborative and information-sharing environment.
  • Evaluating and translating competitive dynamics, industry trends, emerging customer challenges, and market changes into strategic market approaches and product offerings.
  • Managing day-to-day administrative tasks related to the portfolio.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant fields.
  • Strong expertise in fundamental analysis, risk management, and market pricing.
  • In-depth knowledge of the US market.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical abilities; experience in pricing structured, non-standard contracts in power markets.
  • High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address quantitative, qualitative, and structural challenges.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
