Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for power plants and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for power plants and industrial facilities
  • Investigate and troubleshoot electrical engineering issues
  • Assist project leads in ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Coordinate systems design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Prepare detailed calculations, including three-phase power transient studies, voltage drop, and protective relay settings
  • Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production
  • Interface with vendors to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications for client recommendations
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • EIT, preferred
  • Knowledge in Oil and Gas or industrial plant design, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilities
  • Knowledge with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
  • Construction and start-up experience a plus
  • Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design
  • Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role
  • Experience in reviewing other engineers' design calculations and drawings
