Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Value Apothecaries Inc. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outpatient pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain new patient clinical and prescription plan coverage information, review new prescriptions and/or existing prescriptions.
  • Create patient profiles in the pharmacy information system and enter new patient prescription information.
  • Address insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  • Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review and submit, receive, and place inventory in stock.
  • Answer inbound telephone calls and triage calls as appropriate based on the nature of the call to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist with the reviews and handling of adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials.
  • Intervene with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
  • Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program.

Requirements:

  • Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree program preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification required.
  • State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies are equal to or better than national certification requirements.
