Mccormick & Company, a leading global flavor manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Production Line Technician II to join its team at its facility in Gretna, Louisiana. As a global leader in flavor, McCormick & Company manufactures, markets, and distributes a wide range of flavorful products to the entire food industry.

Job Summary

The Production Line Technician II will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the production line to meet company production, budgetary, quality, safety, and waste goals and objectives. This individual will work under the general supervision of the Production Manager and must be able to remain fully attentive to their work surroundings while working at a steady pace on a continually moving production line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line Set-up and Maintenance: Responsible for line set-up, product changeovers, package size changes, and minor repairs and adjustments on line equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate processing, filling, and packaging production line equipment.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality inspections of products and packs, including visual checks of raw material, raw material consumption, caps, labels, date codes, weights, packaging, and seals.
  • Team Management: Monitor work activities of line team to ensure the effective operation of the production line to meet production needs, quality standards, and help minimize downtime and practice waste control.
  • Inventory Control: Process required inventory control transactions using SAP and accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Perform allergen clean-up and daily housekeeping duties in the work area.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training employees on the operation of the line's equipment and company processes.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry with a strong background in leadership roles, operating manufacturing equipment, sanitation, and/or related technical fields.
  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Proven mechanical ability, ability to read, write, and perform simple math calculations, good verbal and written communication skills, and ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a continual basis and 25-50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a work environment with fumes or airborne particles and machinery with moving mechanical parts.
  • Schedule: Ability to work overtime on a frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling/production demands.
