Job Summary

The Surgical Specialty Navigator is a critical role at Guthrie Clinic, responsible for ensuring seamless surgical care for patients. This position requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in establishing standards of care in surgical specialties and evaluate surgical care against these standards.
  • Assist in assessing, maintaining, and developing staff competencies as necessary.
  • Coordinate educational programs, including preparation of preceptors, goal-setting, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Support the philosophy and objectives of the organization, promoting organizational values and departmental vision and goals.
  • Demonstrate compliance with hospital, State, and Federal guidelines, focusing on performance improvement.
  • Pursue professional development through Guthrie Learn Leadership Modules and the surgical technician clinical ladder.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the healthcare team to maximize care and patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program or graduated from an accredited School of Surgical Technology.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience and demonstrated abilities in surgical technology.
  • Operating room experience preferred; may be trained on the job if recent graduate.
  • Ability to travel to other Guthrie Clinic offices in New York and Pennsylvania and participate in an on-call schedule.
