Job Summary

The Specialty Pharmacist Liaison at Value Apothecaries Inc seeks to establish relationships with healthcare providers and physician practices to promote the use of specialty pharmaceuticals. This role involves communicating with key stakeholders, demonstrating the value of ambulatory pharmacy partnerships, and ensuring prescriptions are processed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish relationships with physician practices to promote specialty pharmaceuticals
  • Demonstrate the value of ambulatory pharmacy partnerships to healthcare providers
  • Ensure prescriptions are processed efficiently, including insurance adjudication and product sourcing
  • Process prior authorization paperwork and manage denials
  • Triage prescriptions for limited distribution drugs or out-of-network
  • Act as a financial advocate for patients, leveraging charitable foundations and manufacturer programs
  • Coordinate prescription pickup and delivery, maintaining auditable records
  • Follow up with patients to ensure refills are ordered on time and address any questions or concerns
  • Maintain relationships with physician offices through regular visits and meetings
  • Assist with program financial reporting and data collection
  • Cross-train to ambulatory pharmacy and assist with staffing needs as required
  • Provide oversight and direction to associates, including coaching, mentoring, and developing staff

Requirements

  • PharmD degree strongly preferred
  • Current unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice
  • 5+ years of experience in community, retail, or ambulatory pharmacy, or health-system related experience
  • Prior experience in a specialty pharmacy and/or processing prior authorizations is highly desirable

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with pharmacy dispensing systems and insurance adjudication processes
  • Comfortable working with complex disease states and medical conditions, including clinical data and lab values
