Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, season, and cook a variety of dishes including meats, vegetables, soups, and desserts according to established recipes.
  2. Ensure adequate food preparation to meet service demands.
  3. Coordinate meal preparation to align with service schedules.
  4. Estimate food quantities and effectively utilize leftovers.
  5. Present meals in an attractive and appetizing manner.
  6. Handle, store, and refrigerate food properly to maintain quality.
  7. Standardize recipes and determine portion sizes for meals.
  8. Order daily food supplies and ingredients.
  9. Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation and sanitation practices.
  10. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment.
  11. Request maintenance for kitchen equipment as needed.
  12. Collaborate with management and dietitians to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  13. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Dietary Department.
  14. Comply with all relevant federal and state regulations regarding food safety.

Qualifications:

Experience in large-scale food preparation within a healthcare or residential setting is preferred. Candidates should possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Basic math skills for recipe adjustments.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
