The Manager of Technical Services in Supply Chain directly reports to the Director of Supply Chain.

Role Overview

This position is primarily focused on delivering technical service assistance to guarantee the safe management of products within the Acrylic Monomer sector of Arkema. As the primary contact in the North American region, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, this role addresses technical equipment support for clients and oversees transportation safety matters. Collaborating closely with the Sales team and Supply Chain, the Manager of Technical Services offers support and product stewardship through site evaluations, safety presentations, and training sessions tailored to customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Auditing and Product Stewardship (40%)

Collaborate with Sales and Supply Chain/Customer Service teams to conduct audits and validate the acrylic monomer handling processes and associated equipment at customer facilities or terminals, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations. Familiarity with North American laws is essential. Act as the BAMM representative for the North American Acrylic Monomers Business Unit, providing safety inspections and training as necessary. Maintain the Product Stewardship manual for the safe handling of acrylic monomers and serve as the Business Incident Investigator (B.I.I.) for the division, coordinating and finalizing investigations on Transportation Safety Incidents. Lead the assessment and implementation of new terminals for monomer storage and transloading, while documenting processes for vessel/barge shipments.

Equipment Management (40%)

Oversee the management of the railcar fleet for Acrylic Monomers, including specifications for new railcar builds and routine maintenance planning. Provide hands-on technical support to customers in the Acrylic Monomers Business Unit, including advice on equipment used for storage and transportation, and assistance with loading and unloading products. Offer support to Arkema's third-party terminals for maintenance, equipment relocations, and design needs.

Training and Technical Services (20%)

Conduct customer training on the safe and effective use of equipment for product handling. Assist the Sales team with safety and product handling presentations to enhance Arkema's acrylic monomer capabilities among customers and support new sales opportunities. Lead the onboarding process for new carriers, including procedures and audits. Document and communicate essential information regarding existing customers and prospects, including market and regulatory trends. Support co-product sales initiatives.

Work Environment

This role requires a blend of technical expertise and customer relationship management skills, enabling effective collaboration with clients to address their technical requirements while engaging with internal teams to translate these needs into actionable business insights.

Maintaining consistent communication with Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams is crucial for ensuring a steady flow of market information.

This position involves significant travel, potentially exceeding 50% of the time, and necessitates thorough documentation of customer interactions and market intelligence in the Salesforce CRM tool.

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of experience in the chemical industry is required. Knowledge of material handling equipment such as pumps and valves is desirable. Understanding of hazardous materials, particularly acrylic monomers, is essential. Proficiency in Excel and Power BI is required. The candidate should be a self-starter capable of working independently with moderate supervision.

Required Skills

Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities, particularly in collaborative settings. A reputation for follow-through and maintaining professional relationships. Ability to negotiate solutions that satisfy key stakeholders.
