About the Role:

Fifth Third Bank is seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a network of referral contacts, including realtors, builders, and professional contacts.
  • Stay up-to-date on Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures, as well as available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Take applicant applications, collect necessary documentation, and deliver loan packages in a timely manner.
  • Manage the pipeline for originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
  • Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and manage expectations of applicants and support staff.
  • Attend and participate in Consumer Lending meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • At least 2 years of mortgage lending experience.
  • An established local book of referral sources.
  • Existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Basic sales technique skills.
  • A strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) required.
