Description

This position is essential for ensuring precise financial documentation of incoming and outgoing funds within the County Treasurer's Office. Responsibilities encompass a range of intricate clerical and technical financial tasks related to the operations of this office. The role necessitates the application of fundamental bookkeeping principles, data processing skills, and proficient office support capabilities, including exemplary customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Support all functions of the County Treasurer's office in compliance with statutory and county regulations.
  • Adhere to and uphold all cash handling protocols to ensure secure management of funds while safeguarding against loss.
  • Provide respectful and integrity-driven service to the public.
  • Efficiently manage telephone communications for the entire department, possessing knowledge of departmental procedures to address general inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist departmental personnel with entry processing and requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the County-wide Tax account system and related systems, collaborating with department staff and IT services to ensure accurate fiscal data management.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence for the agency.
  • Assist departmental staff as assigned.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and management.
  • Conduct tax searches as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and Experience

Associate's degree in accounting or business administration with coursework in bookkeeping.

Three years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or secretarial roles involving advanced recordkeeping.

Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience with legal property descriptions and knowledge of assessment and tax roll procedures.

Additional Information

Work Environment:
Work is primarily sedentary, performed within an office environment. Occasional lifting may be required. Equipment used includes computers, scanners, printers, and telephones.

Personal Time Off (PTO):
Extended Leave: Accrual at the rate of five (5) days annually (cap 20 days).

Holidays: Nine (9) paid holidays per year.

Short-term Disability: 66 2/3% weekly wages from days 30-89, at cost to employee.

Term Life Insurance: One (1) times annual salary at no cost to employee; supplemental life available for employee, spouse, and children.

Retirement - WRS: 2024 rates for employees: 6.9%; employer portion: 6.9%.

Deferred Compensation: Options for additional retirement savings (pre-tax).

Health Insurance: Begins on the 1st of the month following date of hire; multiple plan options available.

Other Insurances: Dental, Vision, and Long-Term Disability.

Flexible Spending Account: Administered through WEX for medical expenses and daycare costs.
