Department: Community Outreach and Development
Reports To: Senior Manager of Community Engagement
Status: Exempt
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of all initiatives related to the Youth Engagement Program, including the development of annual packages and marketing strategies aimed at member retention and growth.
- Design and manage monthly engagement events that promote interactive experiences for youth and their families.
- Handle logistics for membership package orders and maintain an organized inventory of program materials.
- Collaborate with fellow team members to coordinate events that enhance participant experience.
- Develop and implement street hockey initiatives, including leagues and clinics, to foster community involvement.
- Coordinate team signing events, ensuring effective inventory management and distribution.
- Assist in the organization of community celebrations, such as mascot birthday events.
- Formulate and enforce policies and procedures related to community engagement and program administration.
- Communicate promptly with participants regarding inquiries and feedback, providing assistance as needed.
- Support efforts to exceed registration goals for community programs through innovative strategies.
- Manage educational initiatives related to hockey and sportsmanship.
- Identify and pursue new grassroots opportunities to fulfill departmental objectives.
- Contribute to the development of community relations and outreach efforts.
- Work collaboratively with various departments to enhance visibility and awareness of youth programs.
- Demonstrate a strong passion for hockey and a commitment to cultivating new fans.
- Organize summer reading initiatives in partnership with local educational institutions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Community Engagement.
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in a professional sports environment or a youth-focused organization.
- Proven ability to creatively design and evaluate youth programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly demeanor, particularly when working with children and young adults.
- Certification in USA Hockey Volunteer/Manager and SafeSport is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organized and proactive.
- Strong time management abilities and capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Customer service-oriented with experience managing various tasks under pressure.
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior hockey experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Background checks will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record required.
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Capable of working under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.
- Physical activities include sitting, walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in a cold environment.
