Pipefitter Foreman

We are seeking a highly skilled Pipefitter Foreman to join our team at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, modification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of piping systems and associated appurtenances.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and direct a team of pipefitters and pipefitter leadmen to ensure efficient and safe completion of projects.
- Plan, schedule, and inspect work to ensure compliance with approved instructions, standards, plans, and specifications.
- Estimate material and labor requirements, check received materials, and requisition necessary supplies and equipment.
- Ensure shop equipment is up-to-date and in good working condition.
- Oversee a safe and efficient repair shop, maintaining good housekeeping procedures.
- Two years of experience as a pipefitter leadman or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Civil service status in the Pipefitter Leadman classification.
May involve exposure to operating mechanical equipment, loud noise, and/or noxious odors. May include working in all types of weather conditions and in confined space environments throughout the plant facility and collection systems.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Considerable knowledge of piping systems, pneumatic process control, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to use an oxyacetylene torch, electric arc welding, soldering, and brazing.
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches and blueprints.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of the trade.
- Skill in the operation of computers necessary to plan, schedule, and coordinate work.
