TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

ORGANIZATION: San Jose Arena Management

LOCATION: SAP Center & Tech CU Arena

SUPERVISOR: Media Relations Manager

COMPENSATION: $20.00 per hour

Role Summary:

The Event Night Personnel, under the guidance of the Media Relations Manager and Media Relations Coordinator, play a vital role in supporting the media relations team by facilitating the flow of game-related information to media representatives and other stakeholders during events at the arena. Each staff member is expected to be present for scheduled events, typically from early evening until the conclusion of the game. This is a seasonal role concluding after the last event of the season.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in gathering and disseminating game-related information and notes throughout the SAP Center during event nights.
  • Act as the public address announcer in the press box.
  • Support the management of staff and media in the press area.
  • Help in recording and distributing post-event audio from team areas.
  • Perform various tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Successful completion of a background check is necessary.
  • Ability to commit to 4-5 hours during event nights.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including editing capabilities.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in media and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Capability to handle equipment weighing up to 15 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to bend, reach overhead, and lift up to 15 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to navigate stairs and elevated areas during events.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods inside and outside the venue.
