An exciting opportunity awaits a highly skilled and safety-focused professional to join our team as a Marine Tankerman at Marathon Petroleum. With a strong commitment to delivering exceptional results, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of barges across various types of vessels.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Barge Transfer Operations: Conduct barge transfers based on MPC's procedures and all applicable USCG regulations/guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
  • Transfer Record-Keeping: Maintain records and document all transfer times to be turned into the office in a timely manner.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain uniforms and equipment necessary for transfers in good, clean condition so as to be ready and available for each barge transfer.
  • Audit and Training: May conduct transfer audits on third-party Tankerman and assist in training new Tankerman.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with customers and do so in accordance with MPC's policies/procedures.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • High School Diploma or GED: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
  • Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC): A valid Merchant Mariner Credential with Tankerman PIC and Barge DL endorsement is required.
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC): Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential card.

The estimated annual salary for this role is approximately $$75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This estimate is based on industry standards and market research for similar roles in the Catlettsburg, Kentucky area.
