Position Overview:
The role of the Registered Nurse in the Medical Neurology Intensive Care Unit involves delivering comprehensive patient care to individuals in critical condition. This specialized unit is designed to cater to a diverse range of patients, including those undergoing treatment for neurological disorders, neuro-surgical procedures, and bone marrow transplants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Conduct thorough assessments and document patient data accurately.
- Develop and implement individualized Plans of Care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
- Engage in patient and family education to facilitate understanding of care plans and discharge processes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care discussions.
- Support a positive work environment that fosters clinical education and mentorship for nursing students and staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a degree in nursing.
- Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license.
- A minimum of one year of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Demonstrated accountability and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
- Two or more years of nursing experience, particularly in an acute care environment.
- Experience in oncology nursing.
- National nursing certification.
Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks associated with patient care in a medical facility. Nurses must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality care.
