Job Title: Lead Materials and Process Engineer

Join Middle River Aerostructure Systems as a Lead Materials and Process Engineer and play a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production processes.

About the Role

The Lead Materials and Process Engineer will serve as the focal point for Materials and Process Engineering in our current production program. This includes working with various functional groups to support productivity, cost reduction, and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support projects from beginning to end, requiring various types of testing and analysis across a wide range of material characteristics.
  • Collaborate with engineers and others within the business to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering technicians, hourly shop personnel, and others.
  • Execute plans to achieve defined project and departmental goals.
  • Effective communication with internal customers, supply chain, and external customers.
  • Support supplier process/product/capability level reviews for compliance to MRAS engineering and quality requirements.
  • Support engineering drawing and specification reviews through the configuration control board for assigned programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent field from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an operations-based role/environment.
  • Technical background in composites or other similar materials-based industry.
  • Experience with Engineering drawings and materials and process specifications.
  • Working knowledge of material analysis techniques (microscopy, mechanical testing, physical property testing, etc...)
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Aerospace materials processing and testing experience.
  • Six Sigma training is preferred.
