Role Overview:
The CityLift Bus Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our transit services. This position involves diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues under general supervision, contributing to the overall efficiency of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on various systems of transit vehicles.
2. Perform inspections to identify issues on all assigned vehicles and equipment.
3. Service and repair light and heavy mechanical equipment associated with transit operations.
4. Execute preventative maintenance procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
5. Implement upgrades and modifications to coach systems and equipment as necessary.
6. Respond to road calls and perform on-the-road repairs when required.
7. Assist and oversee the work of junior mechanics, ensuring quality and accuracy.
8. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Education:
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
- Master Mechanic certification is also preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty transit equipment is required.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems related to transit vehicles.
- Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
- Capability to organize and perform work efficiently with attention to detail.
- Ability to assist others and monitor their work for accuracy.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of drug testing and background checks.
- Must pass a DOT physical examination.
Physical Requirements:
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for manipulation.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying environmental conditions.
