Job Title: Senior Performance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Performance Engineer to join our Asset Management team at Apex Clean Energy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the high performance of our renewable energy assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with control room, field personnel, operational team, and asset managers to ensure optimal asset performance.
  • Monitor equipment performance using in-house and commercial software, identifying anomalies and trends that could impact reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Provide analysis on KPI performance against budgets and contribute to monthly reporting.
  • Identify risks to the plant and provide recommendations to mitigate them, ensuring resolutions are tracked through to completion.
  • Develop technical assessments and analyses to improve operational performance and reliability, meeting operational targets or understanding deviations from them.
  • Review plant events, coordinate with operational teams to capture event details, and drive completion with relevant entities.
  • Verify data quality within data capturing software during onboarding for new plants.
  • Be a subject matter expert on existing analytic tools and performance software models.
  • Collaborate with SCADA and Operations Technology teams to ensure high levels of data quality and throughput.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings, as well as other common specifications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Asset Performance software (Bazefield, Power Factors, Spark Cognition).
  • Renewable energy experience required.
  • Demonstrated history of developing, implementing, and operating performance monitoring programs.
  • Experience utilizing SCADA data, Ignition experience a plus.
  • Ability to make API calls.
  • Experience handling large data volumes, machine-learning techniques a plus.
  • Python, R, or similar, SQL experience.
  • PowerBI, Tableau, or other Business Intelligence software proficiency.
  • Proficiency with various software programs and systems, as well as database use.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Wind-specific experience with GE, Siemens, Vestas, or other OEM wind turbine engineering or operating experience.
  • Condition monitoring and diagnostic technologies.
  • Rotating components such as gearboxes, wind turbines, generators, and field instrumentation.
  • ASME Performance Test Codes and IEC Wind Standards.
  • Solar-specific experience with PVSyst and/or PlantPredict modeling.
  • Battery Storage-specific experience with BESS design and performance and safety software.
