Key Responsibilities- Work closely with Radiologists to perform diagnostic sonographic exams, exercising professional judgment and maintaining a demeanor that supports quality care.
- Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality, adhering to Orlando Health's mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
- Assess patient physical condition and age-specific needs, providing instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient clinical history, and accurately document information.
- Position patients, equipment, associated devices, and manipulate technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
- Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards, participating in all Quality Control tasks.
- Administer medical aid as required for any emergency situation, applying appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
- Assist in supervision of student sonographers, utilizing all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensure safety of all customers, maintaining reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Associate's in applied science and graduate of an accredited school of sonography, meeting American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate and AIDS certification.
- Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures, including invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, and breast localization, as well as knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.
